Cereal and Such

Cereal and Such

Right in the back of the Silverlake retail hotspot Virgil Normal sits an inconspicuous little outdoor cafe that is a must for LA natives looking for something new. This cafe is called Cereal and Such and it is a super cool new restaurant.  Hip hop producer Theo Martins wanted to start a business where people could just sit back, eat cereal, and have some chill conversation with one another.  From what I could see, he succeeded.
The menu is basic and delicious:  Cap’n Crunch Berries, Apple Jacks, Cocoa Puffs, Frosted Flakes, Honey Nut Cheerios and Lucky Charms. Milk selections include 2% along with non-dairy options like almond and coconut milk. The cereal selection will rotate, and the menu may expand to offer more milk options and even ice cream. The cereal comes in a plastic box with the logo on the front and a spoon.  This is nice if you’re trying to take it on the go, but I recommend sitting in the large bench provided and enjoying your cereal before it gets soggy.

Cereal and Such is open Tuesday-Sunday from “11am ish-5pm” and is the kind of place you have to sort of be in the know to find.  There is no phone number listed on Yelp but when I went at around noon on a Tuesday it was open for business.  The bowl is $4 for two scoops (you can mix and match, don’t worry) and there is coffee and tea.  Another cool fact? They always have a gluten free option in their rotation.

Since pretty much everyone likes fresh cereal, this is an awesome concept and is carried out beautifully.  The guys who own and work Cereal and Such are kind and interesting, so even if you’re alone you will always have someone to talk to.  Check it out!
